Conversation with a 4 Year Old

I received the following note from Krissy the other day and it was just one of those things that begs to be posted.  The following conversation occured between her and Ryan the other day.  Here is her note in it's entirety.  All side comments are hers:

(Start of note)

I am not embellishing…

R: I want some toast.

K: But I just put the bread away.

R: Touche´

K: Where did you learn that word?

R: (sarcasm) I’m just a really really smart boy.

K: I see that, but how do you know the word touche´?

R: (more sarcasm) Because I know everything…just like you.

Seriously???

(End of note)

He has since been using touche´all over the place. He doesn't have the meaning right, but he's got the inflection and sarcasm...nailed.

"Yeah...that's me. I'm a really smart boy."

Bringing Some Spring Indoors

With delight, I would like to introduce you to a little bit of Spring that just came into my home this evening. Ahhhh!

I got the idea for the separate vases for each type of flower from my dear Ina.  I learn so much from her.

Just Because

Pulled this off the Humphrey Bogart Fan page on Facebook (yes, I belong).  Just a great photo from a great movie.  My top movie of all time.

My Favorite Kitchen Gadget

I belong to this Michigan Lady Food Bloggers group.  They recently started discussing their favorite kitchen gadget.  I found this interesting, because I've been thinking about the fact that one of my favorite kitchen accessory seems to be this:

I've had this forever and it's probably the cheapest kitchen utensil I own and I've bought several other much more high tech flippers.  But when it comes to the real delicacies of flipping, this is my go to...got to have flipper.  It's just irreplaceable.

Do you have something like this that you can't live without?  I'd love to know what it is.

True Grit Movie Review

True Grit

Grade: A

I'm a huge John Wayne fan, but True Grit has never been when of my favorites, but in the hands of the brilliant Coen Brothers, True Grit has become a new cowboy classic.  This is a Western the way they should be made.  Kind of the same caliber film as John Ford's "The Searchers" (now that was a great John Wayne movie).

Hailee Steinfeld, who plays 14 year old Mattie Ross, just steals this film.  Not that Jeff Bridges doesn't make a great Rooster Cogburn, he does, but Hailee as Mattie is just mesmerizing.  After the movie was over, I kept waiting to speak using Mattie's style and tone.  It's kind of like going down South, before you know it you're saying "Y'all" and "I'm fixin".

In traditional Coen Brothers fashion, there were a couple scenes where I hid behind my scarf, but that's always the way with me.  Love their moves, can't always take their graphic violence.  (yes....I'm a wuss.)

Great movie to take your hubby/boyfriend to if they are movie resistant.  It's got enough story and strong performances for both of you.

Happy Valentines Day

Hope you all have a very lovely Valentine's Day.  I love the idea of celebrating love.
I did finally do a holiday refresh for my mantle picture frames.  Here's the pair of them:

My XOXO was a little off, but I like them anyway.

Cheers.

It's been a long time since I've actually had a card ready to submit to the CPS Card Sketch...but I do this week.

Yeah!!

Here's the sketch:

And here is my interpretation:

I found this quote somewhere...a long time ago and have been saving it for just the right card.

Enjoy the rest of your week and thanks for visiting.

Luke's 1st Haircut

Luke's hair has been growing...slowly and unevenly.  My guess is that he will be right handed as the right side of his hair has grown more than the left.  He got his first little trim yesterday.

I think the pictures say it all.
