Having spent my whole life living in Michigan, the expression "Up North" is readily understood by everyone here. Up North generally means any area north of the Flint, Lansing, Grand Rapids line that can be drawn across the state. Telling someone you are going Up North is usually followed by holding up your left hand and pointing to the area that you are headed. I think we are a very lucky state to have this map, literally....always at hand. (Ha!)
This is a lovely view of a Lake Michigan beach. This beach is where we are headed later today. As soon as I can get out of work...we'll be on the road.
I'm not sure that there will be much Internet connectivity Up North, so I may be absent from posting for a couple days. I do promise pictures when I return. (Please note that I promised pictures....not good pictures, just pictures. Photography just isn't one of my best skills.)
Have a great 4th of July and enjoy the long week-end with friends, family and good food.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I posted the squash casserole recipe down a few posts of your as a comment on your cute wedding shower card, by the way I have that "just for you" stamp set. I use them all of the time!

That picture looks just like a Hawaii beach! Beautiful! Hope you are having fun! Love ya! - Kelly
ReplyDeleteHere in Wisconsin we say we're going "up nort" or maybe it's just during deer-hunting season that people say that. I agree with Kelly about MI beaches looking almost like Hawaii. Lake Huron was was especially pretty and you for sure have the good side of Lake Michigan.
